On a confused weather morning in Kaiwaka. EV enthusiasts came from all over Northland to witness the opening of the first ever Charge.net Fast Charger. The rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of the 100+ strong crowd, including Kaiwaka school children and parents, special guests from Northland District council, North Power, and even a guest from Tritium who are based in Brisbane.

The venue was Jaques Four Square in Kaiwaka. A small town on the border to Northland – now a super gateway to clean green travel to the beautiful destinations across the winterless North.

With a flurry of electric cars queuing up for charging, and a superb address from the Right Honourable Winston Peters, the ribbon was cut and the gateway town of Kaiwaka was buzzing with enthusiasm for a better future.

Winston Peters addressed the crowd of 100 with honest support for the ChargeNet initiative and called on the government to support EV uptake in New Zealand.

ChargeNet are excited to open the first Fast Charger station and have it available to the public. It is a huge milestone and the collaboration of months of work from a dedicated team. ChargeNet are proud to be a part of the Leading the charge community, who are working tirelessly to encourage a better future for all New Zealanders.
